Warner’s Lolly

Yes I perform, she says, effaced on stage I too efface
Hat far off my head bees droning motionless

Tremendous rise like cold air from the ground
I move and move again
that legs could look
  absorbed into their household
I’ve seen already
the closed body
crouched in apprehension
watched day
through clotted froth
though very thinly now
my lower legs appear
to those who glimpse them
they bear me
I bear or bear down
and discretely
yes, I perform,
carry words before
me if heavily
ripe strawberries palmed
into open mouths
