Matthew Murrey

I’m working on a window that will
show me everything. Impossible,
but I could say the same thing
about being
here now.
Yesterday
I opened
the blinds
and watched it rain biblically.
Yesterday I watched two cars
head for each other tragically.
Yesterday
I saw the light
give way to
the dark,
obviously.
While I slept the dark slipped
away under the cover of light.
This will go on long after I’m gone.

Leave them alone. Let
them recover while the winners
make jumpy Ys of themselves.
Often I have been the one
sitting on his butt, bent
out of shape and shit out of luck.
